Ford Focus ST nearly Catches Up To RS Performance Levels

Fortunately, those Focus ST owners who want a significant increase in performance without a huge price tag and without voiding their factory warranty, Ford Performance has launched a performance package with the help of the tuning experts at Mountune – the MP275. It’s the peace of mind that comes with in-house tests for performance and durability that Ford is willing to put their name on that the $1,900 brings. The Mountune package includes a new air-induction kit, a high-flow intercooler, various mounting hardware, and a handheld programmer tool for reflashing the car’s engine computer.

While not a complete vehicle, Ford is hinting that its Ford Performance division will enter the aftermarket business with a range of factory-supported performance upgrades for its fleet of feisty machines.

Now, can the Focus ST really get better in terms of performance?

With the mountune MP275 Focus ST performance upgrade kit, the 2015 Focus ST goes to 275 horsepower and 296 lb-ft of torque when using 93-octane fuel.

Like the rest of the 2015 Focus lineup, the ST got a handful of upgrades as part of a mid-cycle refresh.

With the Ford Focus RS on its way, you would think that Ford will not be thinking about giving more power to the other Ford Focus so that they will not take away any sales from the upcoming Ford Focus RS, but that is not the case here.

Most of the additional power can be attributed to a recalibrated ECU with a more aggressive mapping for more power and a quicker throttle response.
