Ford GT Heritage Edition pays homage to Le Mans win

To complete the race look, each GT will be fitted with Frozen White #2 hood and door graphics and 20-inch one-piece forged aluminum wheels in a gold satin clear coat with black lug nuts. The historical win marked Ford’s first at Le Mans (Ford also won in 1967, 1968 and 1969), with McLaren and Amon leading a historic 1-2-3 Ford GT sweep in 1966.

A Ford spokesperson has told us that the limited edition will be available in all markets, including the United Kingdom, and will only be built for the 2017 model year of production.

Immediately seen on the special edition GT is the Shadow Black paint which can be specified in either gloss or matte finish.

The all-new 2017 Ford GT is getting a limited-edition heritage themed model to celebrate its 1966 Le Mans win. “Ford has also equipped the vehicle with carbon fibre styling package and a Frozen White “#2” graphics, which are completed by Ford GT’s legendary twin racing strips. Chief among these changes are the seats; the carbon fibre ones used in the standard GT are covered in ebony leather and feature pillowed inserts and unique stitching.

Inside, you’ll be welcomed by a serialized identification plate, carbon fiber seats wrapped in Ebony leather, head restraints and steering wheel debossed with the Ford GT logo, gold appliques, and blue webbing on the seat belts.

“We’ve accentuated new styling cues to provide a modern interpretation”, said Garen Nicoghosian, GT exterior design manager, in a statement.

The Blue Oval brand recently commemorated the 50 anniversary of its victory in the 1966 Le Mans after unveiling a limited edition GT.
