Forecast: Cooler temps Monday, rain by weekend

For this week, Monday will be the dry day. Since the boundary is weak, it won’t be starting much activity on radar alone; anything we do see on radar today will likely be caused by daytime heating combined with the remnants of the front.

With the chance of precipitation forecast to be 60 percent on Tuesday, showers and thunderstorms are likely, particularly after 2 p.m. At night, showers and thunderstorms possibly return. Another storm system will carve through the area by the end of the week ushering in more chances of precipitation. Cloud cover and rain that does linger during the day will have an impact on temperatures for both lows and highs the rest of the week as well as two cold fronts. Then, we drop to 80 on Thursday and loose the humidity.

Today’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies with a high of 74 and a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m.

What also separates this time of year from the spring is the nature of the wet weather. South of the front thunderstorms with heavy rain and lots of lightning are scattered across South Alabama.

“It’s awfully hard to tell at this point, we’re only calling for about forty percent right now”, McCullough said.

The high should be near 75 under cloudy skies with southwest winds around 5 miles per hour turning out of the west in the afternoon.

Monday starts the week off with sunny skies and a high near 82. Overnight will be mostly cloudy with a low of 52 degrees.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, warmer, a bit more humid, chance for a late day thunderstorm.

Friday A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Thursday and Friday: Partly to mostly sunny. More humid. Highs in the lower to middle 80s.

Friday, mostly sunny, with a high near 87.
