Former American footballer Will Smith shot dead in New Orleans
Former New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith was shot and killed late Saturday in New Orleans, according to the Times-Picayune. The collision caused Smith’s vehicle to hit a Chevy Impala. The sources have also said that Smith’s wife was also shot multiple times in the leg and is being treated at University Medical Center.

The 30-year-old driver of the Hummer is in custody and being interviewed by police. The shooter is being questioned and the gun used was recovered, said NOPD spokesman Juan Barnes.
Smith was fatally shot and the female victim, who was not yet identified, was shot in the leg.
A witness said she heard six to eight gunshots. She said she went to the injured woman’s aid, giving her ice chips.
According to reports at the scene, Smith and his wife Racquel had just finished having dinner with friends, a group that included former Saints running back Pierre Thomas.
The coroner’s office is still investigating the incident.
