According to details, a suicide note has also been recovered from the spot. His body has been kept at the city civil hospital where doctors are performing postmortem.
However news reports suggests that he committed suicide at his residence around eight this morning.
Pul had been chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh for four and half months earlier this year but had to resign in the wake of an adverse Supreme Court verdict in July.
There state government is yet to officially confirm Pul’s death.
“Pul symbolised the hopes and aspirations of the youth of Arunachal Pradesh”.
Pul, who had a bachelor degree in arts, belongs to the Kaman Mishmi tribe and hailed from Walla village in eastern Arunachal Pradesh’s Anjaw district-among the most backward areas.
But the Supreme Court held illegal the imposition of president’s rule, as it is called in India, ordering that the dislodged Congress should return to power immediately, forcing Pul from office.
He was State Finance Minister in the ministry of Chief Minister Gegong Apang from 2003 to 2007.
While Congress agreed to re-install its government in the State, but selected Pema Khandu instead of Nabam Tuki as the Chief Minister. In April 2015, Kalikho Pul was expelled from his party for carrying out anti-party activities. “We pray for Pul’s family”.
Parading 36 MLAs in front of the media, Pul had asserted that he had the support of 43 members of the Arunachal Assembly, which has a total strength of 60.
