Former China oil firm chairman jailed for corruption
Ji, whose criminal probe began as early as 2014, illicitly received more than 20.4 million yuan (3.2 million dollars) in assets and bribes between 2002 and 2013, Xinhua said. Jiang’s prosecution was part of an effort to root out corruption by Zhou Yongkang, a one-time member of the Politburo Standing Committee, who dominated the Chinese language energy business for greater than three decades with the assistance of Jiang.

His personal assets worth 1 million yuan (about $160,000) were also confiscated, the Hanjiang Intermediate People’s Court said.
In a separate sentence handed down today, Li was sentenced to 13 years for accepting bribes and abuse of power, according to a statement from the Xianning Intermediate Peoples’ Court posted on Sina Weibo.
Crackdown President Xi Jinping has launched a major crackdown on official corruption, taking aim at both the massive wealth accumulated by the powerful “tigers” of the elite and the backhanders palmed over to the “flies” at the bottom of the Communist Party.
Two former aides of China’s disgraced security tsar Zhou Yongkang were each jailed for 20 years for graft yesterday, following the sentencing of his two key allies on Monday.
Before becoming China’s top security official, Mr Zhou was chairman of CNPC.
At first Jiang appeared to be unscathed because he was appointed to the Cabinet body that oversees China’s biggest state-owned firms in 2013.
The prosecutors said Jiang abused his power and his actions resulted in big losses to State assets when he was working with the CNPC and PetroChina between 2004 and 2008.

Mr Li had previously worked under Mr Zhou and was promoted to mayor of the Sichuan provincial capital Chengdu when Mr Zhou served as the party chief of Sichuan from 1999 to 2002. He was detained in December 2012, a month after Xi came to power and his arrest helped build the case against Zhou. Many of his associates – including Jiang and Wang – also have been convicted of corruption.
