Foye said that Wildstein “terrorized people”, tried to tap the phones of co-workers and was hated by “hundreds and thousands” of people at the agency.

He also said that his then-boss Baroni often talked about the “one constituent rule”, referring to the governor as the only constituent they needed to serve.

Critchley said Wildstein did not answer to Kelly, and “we’ll establish that without a doubt once we cross examine him”.

David Wildstein testified Friday that among those directly involved in the effort were Bridget Kelly and Bill Baroni, who are accused of creating traffic gridlock at the George Washington Bridge in 2013 to punish one of those mayors for not endorsing Christie for re-election.

Kelly and Baroni are accused of arranging in September 2013 to close traffic lanes leading to the George Washington Bridge in order to cause gridlock in Fort Lee, New Jersey, as retribution after the municipality’s Democratic mayor did not endorse Christie’s successful re-election bid.

Baroni’s attorney claimed he and his client have established that Wildstein has been a liar all his life. Christie has denied knowing about the closures in advance.

According to Wildstein, he mainly acted in a chief of staff capacity for Baroni-the highest ranking Port Authority official from the New Jersey side-and did nothing without his consent.

His testimony could last a week.

A former campaign staffer for New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie who now works for Donald Trump has testified he told a defendant in the George Washington Bridge lane-closing case that a Democratic mayor wouldn’t endorse Christie.

A day later, Kelly sent an email saying, “Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee”.

Tina Lado, head of the Port Authority’s community outreach arm, testified her office, which normally communicates with local officials if roadwork or traffic studies could potentially have an impact on traffic in their towns, wasn’t notified about the alleged traffic study at the bridge.

Kelly, who like Baroni has pleaded not guilty to the charges, has said her emails were meant to be sarcastic.

Jurors in the George Washington Bridge lane-closing case have heard testimony that a former official who pleaded guilty was “protected” by Republican Gov. Chris Christie.

During his Friday testimony, Wildstein was only questioned by attorneys from the USA attorney’s office.

Attorneys say David Wildstein is one of the next three witnesses who could testify Friday in the trial of two former allies of Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

During testimony earlier Friday, former Christie campaign staffer Matt Mowers said Christie wrote a letter to the Port Authority supporting the purchase of commuter shuttle buses Sokolich had requested. When questioned about the meaning of that phrase, Wildstein said that there were a number of things the Port Authority could give to various towns and administrations.
