Former CIA director Petraeus hid papers in attic insulation
Explaining why she used private email rather than government channels, Clinton said in 2015: “I thought it would be easier to carry just one device for my work and for personal emails instead of two”.

You decide whether Clinton told the truth when she repeatedly claimed she had turned over all her work-related emails to the State Department.
“I did not have a basis for second-guessing their conclusion”, Clinton said in an interview with CNN, saying she had the “highest regard” for her former colleagues.
“Is it your statement then before this committee that Secretary Clinton should have known not to send classified material and yet she did?”
“I’m going to make you proud”, Trump told House Republicans, according to a participant, Representative Bill Flores.
Clinton again acknowledged that use of the private server was a mistake and said, “I would certainly not do that again”.
And that she lied when she said that nothing was marked classified on the emails on her server. In fact, the statute was only used once – in an espionage case, he said.
“As I said, I see evidence of great carelessness, but I do not see evidence that is sufficient to establish that secretary Clinton or those with whom she was corresponding both talked about classified information on e-mail and knew when they did it they were doing something that was against the law”, Comey said. And the Obama administration has displayed an iron fist when it comes to enforcing punishment for those who mishandled and revealed classified documents.
Trump invoked a almost identical line Tuesday, after Comey announced his recommendation to bring no charges against Clinton.
“For weeks Republicans have said they trusted FBI Director Comey to lead an independent review into Secretary Clinton’s emails, but now they are second-guessing his judgment because his findings do not align with their conspiracy theories”, Fallon said.
Pressed by Chaffetz Thursday on whether Clinton lied, FBI Director James Comey said during a hearing that he had not reviewed Clinton’s testimony because it had not been referred to him by Congress. Chaffetz assured Comey he would soon get a referral. “I worry very much when people doubt that”. Quite the opposite, he said: Deciding to recommend charges would have constituted special treatment. “That is a flawless illustration of the kind of cases that get prosecuted”.
“He admitted he knew that was the wrong thing to do”, Comey said. But that “John Doe” employee would not be prosecuted; and if he or she had already left government service, the case would simply be dropped.
Democratic US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton speaks to the General Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church during their annual convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania July 8, 2016. To the contrary, all previous prosecutions for similar offenses involved particularly egregious conduct such as “clearly intentional and willful mishandling of classified information; or vast quantities of materials exposed in such a way as to support an interference of intentional misconduct; or indications of disloyalty to the United States; or efforts to obstruct justice”. Ryan also has asked Director of National Intelligence James Clapper to bar Clinton from receiving classified briefings for the rest of the campaign.
The hearing served as a means to energize a conservative base that might be disillusioned with Trump, as Republicans are working to hold onto their majority in Congress.

Most criminal laws governing classified information require prosecutors to prove that a defendant “knowingly” violated the law in order to secure a conviction, but there is little, if any, evidence that Clinton committed any such violations.
