Former Detroit Lions RB Jahvid Best Qualifies for The Olympics
After watching his National Football League dream get cut short in 2013, former Lions running back Jahvid Best moved on to another dream. Jahvid Best is returning to his track and field roots.
“This is a huge accomplishment for me, but at the same time this is just the beginning”, Best told NBC Sports.
A former first-round pick in 2010, Best had a concussion history coming out of college and suffered a head injury against the San Francisco 49ers that resulted in the speedster never being cleared to play again. The small island in the Caribbean Sea has only been sending athletes to the Olympics since 1996. My family has instilled a lot of values that has enabled me to persevere through it all.
“Above all else I’m excited to get out there and make my country and family proud”, Best said in statement Saturday to NBC Olympics. That met the Olympic qualifying standard of 10.16 seconds or faster. Walker competed in bobsled in the 1992 Winter Games at Albertville, France.
