“The All-Russia Athletic Federation is aware of the investigations the independent commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the ethics commission of the global Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) have been conducting and it declares its openness to cooperation and integration with the world athletics community in all spheres”, the statement runs.

Zelichenok said new IAAF president Sebastian Coe had met Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko and the president of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov in Moscow in the past few days and had good relationship with the VFLA.

The 82-year-old Senegalese is alleged to have received over one million euros ($1.09 million) in bribes in 2011 to cover up positive doping tests by Russian athletes, the office of France’s financial prosecutor said.

Coe said the annual honors will still be awarded and will be announced on the Internet and social media.

“The IAAF will seek a suitable occasion in the future for the presentation of these awards to be made to the winners”.

Jamaican sprints star Usain Bolt, British Olympic and World champion Mo Farah, Kenyan marathoner Eliud Kipchoge and Russian hurdler Sergey Shubenkov are the first four men nominated for the IAAF Male Athlete of the Year.

On Monday, a WADA commission that has been investigating allegations of widespread doping and coverups in Russian sport will announce the findings of its 11-month probe, which was prompted by a damning German television documentary.

“It is no secret for anybody in the world of athletics that Diack has created a whole system of bribes and extortion through his son, Papa Massata Diack, who until recently headed IAAF’s marketing programs”, the source said. It has filed disciplinary charges against him, Dolle, former Russian athletics federation head Valentin Balakhnichev and Alexei Melnikov, former head coach for Russia’s long-distance runners and walkers. He has been released on bail of 500 000 euros and banned from leaving the country, the prosecutor’s office said.

Last year, she alleged two members of the Russian athletics federation had extorted US$450,000 (S$632,900) from her in return for covering up a positive test.

Beloff said an investigation was “also ongoing in respect of an additional person”.

Wada later released a short statement in which it said that the investigations had been prompted by its information.

One of the key parts of Coe’s election campaign was to set up an anti-doping agency for athletics that was completely independent of the IAAF.
