The appellants asked the Supreme Court to reconsider a September 2014 decision by Tel Aviv District Court Judge David Rozen to impose heavy punishment on them, including jail terms ranging from three to seven years.

Israel’s Supreme Court has partly overturned the bribery conviction of former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, reducing his jail sentence from six years to 18 months.
The court in Jerusalem acquitted Olmert of one major count of bribe-taking when he served as mayor of the city between 1993 and 2003.
The six-year prison sentence handed down against Olmert in May last year was the first ever against a former Israeli premier for corruption.
December 2015 Israeli Supreme Court reduces Olmert’s bribery case sentence to 18 months, clearing him of the main bribery charge against him.
Olmert denied any wrongdoing and was allowed to stay out of prison pending the appeal.
Throughout his time as prime minister Olmert was dogged by the corruption allegations.
He had initially been acquitted of fraud and corruption in the case, escaping in 2012 with a $19,000 fine and a suspended jail sentence for breach of trust.
“A stone has been lifted from my heart”, he said.
When Olmert was sentenced in 2014 the judge said he was guilty of “moral turpitude”, ending any plans for a political comeback.
March 2009 Olmert leaves office after Benjamin Netanyahu becomes prime minister.
Following the sentencing Olmert was quoted as saying that he’d never accepted a bribe but would respect the court.
In 2010, Olmert was named the key suspect in what became known as the Holyland affair, accused of receiving hundreds of thousands of shekels for helping developers get the project past various legal and planning obstacles.
The root of the argument that Yossi did not receive funds is that despite both Duchner and Yossi admitting that the fund transfer took place, no one has traced down any paperwork in any of the relevant bank accounts that proves this.
This is the second conviction for Olmert.

However, the top court did maintain a lesser conviction against Olmert of taking a 60,000 shekel ($15,000) bribe.
