Former Leeds Boss Neil Redfearn Lands Rotherham Job

Former Doncaster Rovers midfielder Neil Redfearn was an early favourite to take over from Paul Dickov last month but the former Leeds United head coach has been named the new manager at South Yorkshire neighbours Rotherham United.

According to the website, Redfearn has signed a two-year deal with the Millers and will be officially unveiled to the press on Monday afternoon at the New York City Stadium.

Rotherham United have announced that they have appointed Neil Redfearn as their new manager. The 50-year-old had a spell in charge of Leeds United last season, but despite earning a number of plaudits for the job he did, he eventually left Elland Road.

Now 50, he was the candidate who most impressed Rotherham chairman Tony Stewart who had dispensed with the services of Evans with the pair wishing to go in different directions.

Unless there are any glitches an announcement could come on Friday or Saturday, with the new man set to be in the helm for the resumption of Rotherham’s Championship campaign at Brentford on October 17.

Despite chaos off the field under the stewardship of Italian Massimo Cellino, which included seeing his assistant manager Steve Thompson sacked in April, he led Leeds away from relegation in the Championship and to mid-table safety.

The Millers are now 21st in the Championship, having picked up eight points from their 10 league matches so far.
