Born in the eastern city of Biratnagar in 1939, Koirala entered politics in his teens, becoming the leader of the nation’s largest political party Nepali Congress in 2010, and then prime minister in February 2014.

Often described as India’s friend, Sushil Koirala hailed India’s assistance during the Nepal natural disaster saying Nepal was blessed with neighbors like India.

Former prime minister of Nepal Sushil Koirala passed away at the age of 79 after battling with a chronic respiratory problem. Yet as Mr. Oli became Prime Minister, he urgently required a suitably trustworthy channel to speak to the angry opposition led by the Madhesi protesters who belong to the plains of Nepal. Pained by his demise.

“Sushil Koirala ji’s simplicity holds lessons for all of us”. He said, “Nepal has lost a powerful voice and a wonderful human being”.

“Nepal government believes that assimilation of Koiral’s exemplary sides such as dedication and sacrifice during his life-long struggle in one’s life would be a true tribute to him”, read the statement. Hundreds of his supporters had already gathered outside there on Tuesday.
