Former Newcastle United Boss John Carver Criticizes Steve McClaren’s “Tiki”

We have to offer a much bigger goalscoring threat.

Last season, John Carver presided over a run of ten games without a victory before a final-day win over West Ham secured survival, and Coloccini is concerned to see some of the failings that contributed to that run rearing their head once again.

“It’s going to be like that with players who are new to the Premier League”.

Right-back Janmaat was Newcastle’s biggest attacking threat on a night when McClaren’s front four of Papiss Cisse, Florian Thauvin, Moussa Sissoko and Gini Wijnaldum all failed to sparkle.

“It is good that the next game is so quick, because it means we have to forget about it straight away and focus everything on Saturday and Watford”.

And Janmaat feels there should be a better balance in Newcastle’s approach.

Performance levels have varied, from impressive – as they were against Manchester United – to dire – as they were against West Ham this week – but the constant has remained – points are not easy to pick up.

“We need to eliminate the mistakes and learn from it”. There were times when we were trying to get men forward, but that left us open at the back and that can not happen. With the players they have signed, they do not inspire me to say they will definitely be in the Premier League come May. But it is interesting for us, and in these types of matches, it is important to create silence in the stands. “We must try to get points and wins in the next few games”, Argentine Coloccini told the Chronicle.

Watford have kept three clean sheets in their opening five games. We have to win otherwise the pressure will only continue to increase.

The Golden Boys upset one of the current top teams, Swansea City, in their last game, 1-0, at the Vicarage Road behind forward Odion Ighalo’s lone goal, the third for Watford in the season, as per BBC Sport.
