According to the report, the 82 year old man, Sir James Tidmarsh, found the book inside the shelf during a cleaning session.

When he checked it out, he found that the book was actually taken by him from the school’s library in the year 1949.

He then thought of returning the book along with the fine of almost $2500.

Mr. Tidmarsh paid almost $50,000 to the school for fine and remaining as a donation to its charitable foundation.

A director of foundation, Neil Longstreet, said “We were absolutely delighted to accept the return of his library book, together with an extraordinarily generous cheque to cover the appropriate ‘fine’”.
