McLendon visited the Jets on Monday.

The Jets were only $2.2 million under the salary cap Tuesday, according to overthecap.com, and also agreed Wednesday with defensive end Jarvis Jenkins.
Harrison put up a career year in 2015 with 72 total tackles and a forced fumble, but the Giants simply put up more money than the Jets, per Dom Cosentino of NJ Advance Media.
Jenkins’ contract is for two years and $7 million, with $3 million guaranteed, according to a person with direct knowledge of the deal.
He was the #41st overall pick (2nd round) out of Clemson in the 2011 National Football League draft and was named first-team All-ACC his senior season for the Tigers with 51 tackles, 9 tackles for loss and 16 quarterback pressures.
He was suspended the first four games of the 2013 season for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing substances. The 310 pounder was undrafted out of Troy in 2009 and has spent his entire career to date in Pittsburgh. Word of a pending deal leaked last week. The team hopes Williams can step up to play more downs while Richardson and Wilkerson are relied upon more.

McLendon, 30, will be used primarily as a first- and second-down run-stuffer, the role he did well for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the last six seasons. That offseason, the Steelers gave him a three-year contract and moved him into the starting lineup at the age of 27.
