Former sunderland goalkeeper marton fulop has died aged 32

He found it hard to break into the first-team at White Hart Lane, and as such had loan spells away at Chesterfield, Coventry City and Sunderland, before eventually joining the Black Cats on a permanent basis.

He last played professional football for Greek side Asteras Tripoli in 2012/13 and won 24 caps for his country.

He stayed with the Black Cats until 2010, making more than 40 appearances – although he also had loan stints at Leicester City and Stoke City during that time.

Fulop started his career with Hungarian clubs MTK Budapest FC, BKV Előre SC and BFC Siófok (Bodajk) before Tottenham Hotspur brought him to England in 2004.

Former Sunderland and Ipswich Town goalkeeper Marton Fulop has died at the age of 32.

Flags at the Stadium of Light and the club’s Academy of Light training base are flying at half-mast as the club pays its respects.

The club’s chief executive Margaret Byrne said: “We are devastated to hear of Marton’s passing. Our thoughts are with his friends and family”. “May he rest in peace”.
