Recon Group is Xia’s privately owned holding company that has the controlling interest in five publicly-listed companies on the Hong Kong and Chinese stock exchanges and other private companies employing 35,000 people in 75 countries.

“As we visited together, and had some unrushed time to discuss his plans, Tony’s excitement to develop Villa Park shone through”, he added.

Ellis, who sold the club to Lerner back in 2006, advised the incoming owner to attend matches on a regular basis, something that Lerner failed to do during his time as chairman.

His ambitious plans will be welcomed by Villa fans who had become increasingly disillusioned with Lerner’s reign, staging protests at a number of games this season.

If anything, the news earlier this week has been quite positive for those that hold Villa dear to their hearts.

One of the things we have thought about is using the Lotus Health name to rebrand Villa Park.

“The ideal scenario would be for fans to enjoy Lotus Health products at Lotus Villa Park, it would be a great great advert for both brands”.

The Mirror claim Dr Xia will try to get fans on side by promising major investment in the transfer market, with Villa’s next manager to be given £50million to spend on players in the Championship next season.

Talking about the new manager of the team, Xia said that they will decide among 6 candidates including former Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson and former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo.

“The Chinese investor in Villa will hope to make a swift return to the Premier League – and push the club on from there”.
