Former UGA coach Mark Richt introduced as Canes head coach Friday
The person spoke Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been signed and the university has not announced the hiring publicly. “One, he liked (Richt’s) system, really liked the style and personality and felt that was the coach he really bought into, what he said and how he did it”.

Replacing Richt on an interim basis is Bulldogs receivers coach Bryan McClendon, a former Georgia receiver who has been on Richt’s staff the past seven seasons. Will Kirby Smart still be announced as the next Georgia Head Coach on Sunday, or is that delayed now? He comes to Miami with five more wins than the last 10 Hurricane head coaches had combined when they took over, a list that includes Howard Schnellenberger, Jimmy Johnson, Dennis Erickson and Larry Coker. Richt, who played quarterback at Boca Raton High and at UM from 1978-82, was a backup to Hall of Famer Jim Kelly.

Another irony along similar lines is the general perception that Richt ran a “clean” program while at Georgia when, in fact. the program ranked No. 3 in the nation in players arrested over the last five years. Durkin to be its head coach. Coach Richt is the definition of a class act, always doing things the right way and turning these young football players into quality men. As some of our long time readers know, I myself am a Georgia Bulldogs fan, so this has been very hard on me.
