Former UK PM Major accuses Brexit campaign of “deceit”
“I think this is a deceitful campaign and in terms of what they’re saying about immigration, a really depressing and terrible campaign, they are misleading people to an extraordinary extent”.

The Out campaigner said a vote to leave the European Union would allow the United Kingdom to forge trade deals with developing economies around the world, and insisted many agreements could be enforced immediately after Brexit.
He said: ‘Their argument is, “Let’s wreck the economy by leaving the single market in order to do it”.
Pledges made by London’s former mayor and Michael Gove that the United Kingdom will strike up a series of swift and lucrative worldwide trade deals if voters back Brexit in the June 23 referendum are “nonsense on stilts”, the Prime Minister said.
A Britain Stronger In Europe spokesman said: “As any credible expert will tell you, this letter from Leave is reckless nonsense – they are now guilty of actively misleading the British people”. Boris wants us to be like America, so you’d be subject to WTO (World Trade Organisation) tariffs on cars, clothes, shoes.
To which the Leave supporters enthusiastically chanted back: “Yes, we can”.
He said: “I’m looking at the sporting side – how youngsters aren’t getting the opportunities at some of the big clubs and some of the big clubs are bringing in youngsters from 14, 15, 16 and becoming home grown, which is pushing some of our youngsters out”.
Cameron also told the Mail on Sunday that the Brussels attacks has understandably left people “p***ed off with some of the things it has done”.
Daughter Nancy, 12, has also thrown her support behind the Remain campaign.
He added: ‘She wants to know how it’s going and thinks In is the right answer. She is very green, always quizzing me on solar panels and flood defences’.
But the Leave campaign claimed that voters “cannot trust” Government on the EU.
Jayne-Anne Gadhia, chief executive of Virgin Money, said: “Even if the base rate stays flat after a vote to leave the European Union, mortgage prices could rise considerably – leading to more expensive monthly mortgage payments for everyone”.
The letter also highlights a catalogue of alleged failures by the European Union – and warns that eurozone countries “can impose their will and force us to accept laws that are not in our interests”.

In their 2,000-word letter, they claim the eurozone’s economic crisis is fuelling the rise in migration, as “millions of people in southern Europe, particularly young people, are giving up hope of their countries escaping recession” and head to Britain in “disproportionate” numbers.
