Former US President Bill Clinton Speaks at Colorado College

The country’s 42nd president began by pointing out that the United States still faces problems, but says the country is on the road to recovery. Democrats will hold a presidential preference straw poll as voters nominate delegates to the county and state assemblies.

Bill Clinton repeatedly called on the crowd of 750 to embrace what President Barack Obama has accomplished and build on it, specifically listing the Affordable Care Act.

In his speech, Bill Clinton referred to Republican Donald Trump’s campaign slogan saying, “America never stopped being great”. “We just need a president who can make America whole again”.

Congressman Henry Cuellar says he hopes his visit will persuade people to vote: “It’s important that when we look at the national debate, that we Laredo be part of this national debate”. Clinton said. “I don’t think it’s even close”.

He also talked about his time in office and compared his economic policies to those of former President Ronald Reagan.

Bill Clinton touched on several issues from Hillary Clinton’s campaign including tuition, student loans, racial discrimination and immigration reform. Bernie Sanders has tightened in Oklahoma.
