Former President Jimmy Carter announced on Sunday that his cancer is gone.
On his return, doctors found a small tumor on his liver and diagnosed melanoma, which was later found to have spread to four spots on his brain.
Carter, 91, announced the good news to attendees of a Sunday school class he often teaches at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia.
“Went for an MRI this past week and they (doctors) didn’t find any cancer at all in the brain”, NBC News reported that Carter said. Carter immediately began radiation treatment and was administered a recently approved drug to boost his immune system.
Jimmy Carter appeared at a Habitat for Humanity building project in Memphis last month, saying he had finished his four scheduled rounds of treatment and felt better.
“See?” said James Carter, a grandson of the ex-president.
