Former USC head coach Steve Sarkisian hired by Alabama
Adding Sarkisian’s offensive mind might only make the Tide more dominate after they dealt Sarkisian’s and Kiffin’s former employer its worst season-opening loss in school history.

NOTES: Redshirt freshman Blake Barnett got the start at quarterback for Alabama.
If Sarkisian does indeed land on the Alabama staff, he’ll be reunited with former USC coach Lane Kiffin, who now serves as the Tide’s offensive coordinator.
“I’m not sure that we don’t have a couple of guys that can play quarterback”, Saban said. Saban was pleased with the play of kicker Adam Griffith, punter JK Scott and the Tide coverage teams that helped prevent return specialist Adoree’ Jackson from breaking free. “The cold hard truth is we did not play up to ours”. But Saban has shown an eagerness to assemble as much coaching talent as he can.
“We talked about it quite a while ago”, Saban said.
“I think the biggest thing is to reevaluate yourself and you look at all aspects of your life”, Sarkisian told TMZ Sports last month.
It was the running of Harris and Hurts that propelled the Tide offense after early issues that included just 12 first-quarter offensive yards. “I said whatever decision we made for tonight was for now”. “So that’s what (might) means”. Hurts himself ran on seven of his 37 snaps.
The score, which came on a third-and-13 play when Hurts rolled to his right and then unleashed a long throw from midfield, extended Alabama’s first half scoring streak to 119 games, the longest such streak in the country. “Jalen did a nice job in some of the things he did, turned the ball over a couple of times”.
“I love coaching. I love being around the game of football”, he said. How can we get better? Hurts delivered two touchdowns through the air and rushed in two more.

So far this week, Barnett appeared to lead the quarterbacks during individual drills Monday with Hurts following ahead of junior Cooper Bateman and sophomore David Cornwell.
