Former UVA player Aboushi suspended by NFL for one game
On Thursday, the NFL announced that guard Oday Aboushi will be suspended for the first game of the 2015 regular season after violating the league’s Substance of Abuse policy, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. “This is something I’ve learned from and I’m focused on moving forward”.

Compared to the team’s previous transgressions, this hardly creates a blip on the radar screen, but it provides more fodder for those who believe it’s Camp Chaos over at One Jets Drive. Aboushi was caught with a small amount of marijuana in his auto during a January traffic stop. The following day, Aboushi will be eligible to return.
In terms of the impact on the team, this infraction pales in comparison to Sheldon Richardson’s multiple incidents and IK Enemkpali punching Geno Smith in the face. Aboushi’s reps also stated that Aboushi “accepted responsibility” for a traffic violation, but that all other charges were dismissed, though this could not be immediately verified by Morris County police. “We will support Oday as we continue with our preparations for the upcoming season”.
Richardson’s four-game punishment was related to at least two failed drug tests, which he has acknowledged. The Jets sought to upgrade the position this offseason by signing former Seahawks first-rounder James Carpenter to be the starter – and pushing Aboushi into a backup role.
Aboushi is a third-year offensive lineman out of Virginia. The 2013 fifth-rounder enters the year as a deep reserve.

“I haven’t been told anything”, Aboushi said.
