Former wrestler CM Punk crushed in UFC debut

Despite his lack of competitiveness in the bout, he vowed to be back in the post-fight interview, though he admitted it may not be in UFC at the post-fight press conference.

After stepping off the scales to face off with the 24-year-old, Punk completely ignored Gall’s offering.

Gall made good on his promise, quickly shooting a double-legged takedown on Punk, who seemed in shock as he laid flat on his back. This was a hell of a mountain to try to climb. I didn’t get to the summit today, but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna give up. It doesn’t mean I’m going to stop.

Mickey Gall and Sage Northcutt made their way to the UFC through company president Dana White’s reality series Lookin’ for a Fight. “I’ve got to get back on to ride”, he stated. “This was the second best day of my life, besides marrying my wife”.

As soon as the referee called for the fight to begin, Gall immediately took down Punk and began throwing punches senselessly once he was on the ground. “I’m beating myself up way more than I got beat up”, Punk said.

“It was a great opportunity”, Gall said.

Additionally, Punk could stand to make more far more money off of the show if he gets a cut of the PPV buys.

“He probably shouldn’t have his next fight in the UFC”, White told Pollock.

A few minutes later, CM was tapping out to an air-tight rear-naked choke prior to receiving multiple blows to the head and ear (see it again here). The Gall-Punk fight was delayed earlier this year when Punk required back surgery. I’m just really, really hard on myself.

“I think a lot of people were interested”, Gall said Monday on the MMA Hour. “I felt indebted to my sport, to the veterans of my sport – everyone in my sport – to go in there and dominate every second of this fight.”. It is one thing to train, it’s another thing to train with a singular goal and that’s what I got in Mickey Gall.
