Jenson Button has received the all clear after complaining of eye irritation during Free Practice 2 for the German Grand Prix.

He missed the second half of the session and visited the Hockenheim medical centre for an initial inspection.

While out on track, Button had radioed in to complain about climbing heat in his cockpit, to which the team replied they would check it when he came in.

“It wasn’t stuck in my eye, but it was a foreign body, which the hospital washed out and removed”.

Button finished eighth in second practice, two places ahead of his McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso on Friday. Having returned to the pits, the McLaren driver didn’t come back out again.

Reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne, who already has a point for the 2016 season, was spotted in Hockenheim should Button be excused from racing this weekend.
