Forte leads as Jets defeat Bills

The story of the night was Ryan Fitzpatrick.

That leaves coach Rex Ryan having plenty of concerns he needs to address two weeks into his second season in Buffalo.

“They certainly did a great job and we couldn’t do anything to disrupt them rhythm-wise”.

The New York Jets scored their first win of the young season by beating division rival Buffalo 37-31. The Buffalo Bills coach said as much this week when asked about Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The last time Fitzpatrick was here, in January, it was a nightmare.

The Bills (0-2) are suddenly reeling in Ryan’s second season as coach, and two years after he was sacked by the Jets.

All that became a distant memory on this night. Marshall’s left knee bent so awkwardly it seemed impossible that he hadn’t tore a ligament.

Marshall limped back to the locker room.

The final score came with less than five minutes left in the contest.

“It’s game two, we needed to win game two”.

The loss of Marshall, who had six catches for 101 yards, would’ve been a devastating blow to the Jets.

The Jets led 20-7 late in the second quarter. I even thought about it during the offseason: ‘I can’t wait to play the Bills again.’ Coming into the National Football League, I didn’t think there were any true rivalries like that. The Jets’ secondary surrendered a long touchdown.

The follow play, Jalin Marshall beat Gilmore for a 27-yard gain.

Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was 24 of 34 for 374 yards and a touchdown while Matt Forte ran for 100 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries.

The Jets’ defense did the rest.

On the ensuing Buffalo drive, Taylor tossed his first interception of the season on a deep route to Sammy Watkins. They would then have a fourth-down stand, stuffing E.J. Manuel and LeSean McCoy on back-to-back runs. The fans started heading for the exits. The next four games will use CBS’ coverage, while the last five will feature NBC’s Thursday Night Football broadcast team. On the drive, Brandon Marshall had two big catches. Insane stuff happened in the game…

On third-and-12 from the Buffalo 16, Taylor dropped back and spotted Revis covering receiver Marquise Goodwin. It was the longest scoring strike of Taylor’s six-year career.

As quick as the Bills took the lead was as quick as they saw it slip away.

It was Buffalo’s longest touchdown pass at home in team history, and longest since Fitzpatrick hit Terrell Owens for a 98-yard touchdown strike at Tennessee on November 15, 2009.

It felt as if the game was about to spin out of control for the Jets.

NY scored on each of its first four drives in building a 20-7 lead.

In the first half, Buffalo looked like they were half asleep. A play later, he completed an 18-yard pass to Marshall up the left sideline to help set up a 5-yard touchdown pass to Eric Decker, which put the Jets up 20-7. The Jets led 37-24.
