Foster’s Food Fair product recall: Cheerios
General Mills is testing all finished products, Murphy stated, and has now added flour-handling protocols at all company facilities to make sure that this problem doesn’t happen again.

Foster’s Food Fair – IGA would like to announce that General Mills Inc.is recalling 1.8 million boxes of Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios produced at a plant in Lodi, California, saying the cereal is labeled gluten-free but actually contains wheat.
The Department of Public Health has confirmed that a few of the affected boxes of gluten free Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios were sold on Guam at the Island Fresh Supermarket.
General Mills Canada does not source any Cheerios products from the company’s plant in Lodi, California.
If you have one, simply check the “better if used by” date which ranges from July 12, 2016 to July 25, 2016. It was declared to be an isolated incident caused by human error, resulting in the inadvertent inclusion of wheat in their gluten-free oat flour system.

FDA noted that there are no reports of anyone being hospitalized or any deaths from Cheerios which were labeled gluten-free. This “undeclared allergen” would be detrimental to those with wheat allergies, celiac disease or gluten intolerance. Symptoms can include diarrhea, fatigue, headaches, abdominal pain, brain fog, rashes, nausea, vomiting, and other reactions.
