The fire, fueled by winds that reached up to 40 miles per hour, quickly spread, burning more than 300 acres in a couple of hours. Most people had left the evacuation center by Sunday morning.

Crews from CalFire and strike teams from Yolo and Contra Costa counties assisted Vacaville fire crews, along with 20 fire trucks, three bulldozers, and more than 130 firefighters. When firefighters initially responded, the fire was just 5- to 10-acres. Many neighborhoods in the area were under voluntary evacuations and fire crews closed California Drive, fire officials said.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.

Lagoon Valley Park will be closed today to all public access as fire crews continue to work to extinguish the fire and investigators try to determine a cause, fire officials said. There were no reports of injuries.
