Four Blood Moons: Doomsday Prophecy & Prediction

While space enthusiasts prepare to watch a rare supermoon eclipse Sunday night, some are preparing for the end of the world. The excitement centers on a few different ideas.

A spokesman for Hagee’s ministries in Atlanta, Georgia says the hand of God is involved in this blood moon.

Unfortunately, those who are hoping for a spectacular once-in-a-lifetime view may find themselves disappointed.

For one, stargazers will see a supermoon, which means the moon will be full and at its closest point of orbit and thus appear larger than usual.

The good news is that if you enjoy looking at the moon, you can still expect an attractive and engaging sight – just don’t expect it to be too far out of the ordinary. Once the moon was high enough to get above the horizon’s haze and the sky darkened, the moon glowed red and only a little ominously as the bright silver shine of the sun’s light began to again fully reflect back to Earth. That’s a lunar eclipse every six months exactly for two years. There will be a total of eight this century.

“Pastor Hagee believes this exceptional celestial alignment is consistent with Biblical prophecy and with God’s unfolding message to humankind”, promotional material for the show said.

Some believe that this rare astrological event heralds the “end of days”.

The internet is now in the grips of apocalypse fear, with the blood moon falling on the first night of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot on September 28. As with most rapture predictions, though, this largely comes from a few outlying groups, not from any mainstream belief systems.

USA pastor John Hagee – authour of the book Four Blood Moons: Something is about to Change – believes Sunday’s eclipse has biblical significance based on scripture passages such as Chapter 2, Verse 31 of the Book of Joel: “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the bad day of the Lord come”. Myth debunking site Snopes has declared this one false.

Previous blood moon tetrads – all falling on Jewish feast days – have coincided with major events for Israel and the Jewish people.
