Glenn, who had a checkered past with the law had a note, or “letter”, on him that led investigators to believe he is angry with his probation officer and police. Police believe Glenn acted on his own and not as part of a group. As the officer approached the driveway, the suspect fired at him at least three times, police said.

He then grabbed a woman and used her as a human shield, shooting her in the leg, authorities said.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released pending the approval of charges against him, was taken to Methodist Hospital with a right ankle sprain suffered while jumping over fences as he tried to run away from police, authorities said.

“Last night, Philadelphia Police Officers were faced yet again with another round of gunfire nearly exactly 24 hours after a Sergeant was ambushed and shot, a University of Pennsylvania police officer was shot, several citizens were shot, one of which was killed by a lone gunman”, the police department said in a statement. The woman, who was hit seven times, was pronounced dead just before 2 a.m. Saturday, police said. The suspect was shot and killed by police. “This rambling suggests that he clearly was trying to target a police officer, as he did”. Bullets hit her protective vest and her left arm.

Both Miller and Young, a 19-year police veteran, were in stable condition Saturday at Penn Presbyterian Hospital. The suspect then passed Maximum Level Lounge, located on the 5100 block of Sansom Street, where he fired about five shots into the bar.

He later shot into a auto, striking a man and a woman. But our officers turned out okay, and hopefully the civilians will turn out okay.”I can not say enough about the response of the police officers last night”.

The chase and shootout through the streets of Philadelphia began about 11:20 p.m. Friday when Sgt. Sylvia Young, a 19-year police veteran, was ambushed while sitting in her patrol auto in west Philadelphia.

An officer from the Philadelphia police radio room says the officers were injured shortly after 11 p.m. Friday and have been transported to Penn Presbyterian Hospital where they were in stable condition.
