Four-gong conclusion as Adele makes Brits history

So, she has done it again – overshadowed the competition and won four awards including Best British Female Artist at the Brit Awards held in London last night. During her Best British female artists, Adele showed support for Kesha and her legal battle she has been going through.

Arguably the sweetest moment was when she was announced as the victor of the Brits Global Success Award, and the way the honour was presented to her way out of this world – quite literally!

She admitted, “I got really lost for a while and I didn’t know I would come back”.

One Direction, who are officially on hiatus, also picked up best video for the space-themed “Drag Me Down”.

The company last month saw its stock prices soar thanks to the release of their quarterly earnings report that was greatly helped by the release of Adele’s album 25, which has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide.

Adele and Justin Bieber proved there is no bad blood between them as she was spotted giving the Canadian singer a kiss on the cheek during the Brit Awards on Wednesday, February 24. She closed the ceremony with a performance of latest single “When We Were Young”. Rihanna shook up London’s 02 Arena with a rendition of her new song Work with a special appearance by Drake. “You blow me away every time”.

Other winners of the British Awards are Catfish and the Bottlemen, Jack Garratt, Charlie Andrew, Bjork and Tame Impala for the British breakthrough act, Critics’ choice, British producer of the year, worldwide female solo artist, and global group, respectively.

James Bay, who performed with Justin Bieber, was named British Male Solo Artist while the “Love Yourself” singer got the International Male Solo Artist award. “They could be us and we could be them”, he added. The band was awarded with the “Best International Group Award”.

David Bowie, who was remembered in a musical tribute by Lorde and a moving speech by friends Annie Lennox and Gary Oldman, is at number two with his Best Of Bowie retrospective.

Bowie’s band then performed a medley of his hits, before New Zealand singer Lorde joined them to sing “Life On Mars”.

The controversy echoes the earlier one on the Oscars Awards in the United States, where not even one Black actor had been nominated. “The legend of his extraordinary sound shall be revered for as long as the Earth shall spin”.
