The harrowing adventure began Monday with a flight from the Dominican Republic, initially scheduled to arrive at JFK International Airport at 6:15 p.m. the same day. “With improving conditions, the flight arrived at JFK before 8 p.m. EST Tuesday“.

“The flight redeparted for JFK the following day as Delta flight 9929 but diverted to Boston as a result of severe weather in NY”, spokesman Michael Thomas said in a statement.
Customs agents drove from Portland, Maine, to Manchester to process the 159 tired passengers on board the flight. The plane was coming from Punta Cana, which is usually a four hour flight. Instead, the trip turned into a 30-hour nightmare, which included two diversions, more than three hours on a tarmac, a night in an airport hotel and one round of turbulence so awful, passengers were given oxygen tanks to deal with panic attacks. The flight took off from Manchester on Tuesday, but it was again prevented from reaching New York City by 40-knot wind gusts and low visibility.

‘I can say, in all the years that I’ve been flying, I’ve never felt a plane be knocked around like a toy auto in my life, ‘ he told the station WCVB. Karasek says she feared the plane was going to snap in half. Lauren Karasek told New Hampshire’s ABC affiliate that she and her friends bought Amtrak tickets to get back from Boston.
“We’ve had some delays on the train, too, but a much more pleasant ride”, she said. He said the airline will “evaluate” Karasek’s and the other passengers’ complaints and requests for reimbursement.
Delta passengers were not the only ones facing extreme air travel this week. They were as accommodating as possible, and friendly.
