Four weeks out for Cech

Jack Wilshere’s hopes of returning for Arsenal’s Champions League trip to Barcelona have been dashed after Arsene Wenger revealed the midfielder will be out for another three to four weeks.

Arsenal are trying to win a first league title since 2004.

Seaman won two of his three top-flight titles under Wenger in 1997-98 and 2001-02, but the former England goalkeeper believes failing to lift a further championship since Arsenal’s 2003-04 triumph weighs heavily on Wenger.

The Frenchman said the crucial part of the season was upon his team, telling them the time had come to deliver.

“We had a bad result; luckily everyone around us got beat so we didn’t lose too much ground”.

During the defeat to Swansea the Arsenal fans repeatedly voiced their frustrations, and when speaking to the Sun earlier this week Henry discussed the anger that was coming from the stands.

But bless his leather gloves, Cech did his best to assuage the growing sense of impending doom amongst the Arsenal faithful by talking up his sometimes calamitous replacement, David Ospina. “He has not found the measurement of the fans angriness, of 60,000 people, straight away because he sits in the best seats in the stadium”.

Wenger knows a victory over Spurs, not only their neighbours but now their title rivals, would help silence the boo-boys as he heads for the cauldron of noise the home fans at White Hart Lane are likely to produce on Saturday. “I have complete confidence in David Ospina”.

“Thierry Henry has his opinions”, said Wenger at his media briefing on Friday.

One of the criticisms aimed at Arsenal – this week and over the past few years – is that the players don’t have enough character to win the big games and lack a leader like Tony Adams or Patrick Vieira. “I think the players have character”.

“We have to focus on our job, and remind ourselves that we have some quality as well”.

“You can not say they were never as angry as that”. We do 98 per cent of things right and we have to add the two per cent of things that are down to maybe finding back our collective qualities and even put more effort in. Get Moose back into midfield and I’m suddenly feeling, dare I say, confident about playing Arsenal.
