Four Youth Held On Charge Of Gangrape In Delhi

According to Delhi police, the accused were minors. Police said that both the victims, aged 17 and 18 years respectively, were chatting with their male friends at around 6 pm when the incident took place. The girls returned to their boyfriends, untied them and walked to the nearby road after which they informed the police.

Relying on the description provided by the girls, police arrested four of the youths on Thursday.

Assailants thrashed victims’ boyfriends before tying them up to a tree. “Later, they took turns to rape the girls”, said the officer. They approached the girls and started misbehaving with them and when their male friends Objected and told them to leave, the accused assaulted the male friends. The police are verifying if they have targeted more such couples in the past.

Five men allegedly gangraped two teenagers in outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar area on Wednesday, reported The Indian Express.

A medical examination of the girls confirmed rape and a case under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 376 (punishment for rape) IPC and relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) has been registered, the officer said. On sustained interrogation, the quartet admitted to raping the girls.

Security in Delhi and other cities was widely debated after a physiotherapy student on her way home from a movie with her friend was brutally gang-raped and tortured on a moving bus and then dumped on the roadside. A manhunt has been launched to nab the fifth accused, who reportedly led the youths.
