Fourth Air France Flight Diverted Because of Fake Bomb
A retired French cops officers officer traveling on Air France was detained after a pretend bomb hidden in a rest room forced his Paris-bound flight to make an emergency landing in Kenya, in accordance to prosecutors. French police arrested a 58-year-old man upon the plane’s return to Paris.

The public prosecution service in the Parisian suburb of Bobigny says the man was the passenger who alerted the crew to the presence of the suspicious object.
A passenger who spoke to journalists after leaving the plane in Mombasa described the emergency landing.
Air France, meanwhile, has been the target of three prior hoaxes, all in the United States. “We did not know what was happening”, said Luchini.
‘So we secured the seat belt to land in Mombasa because we thought it was a technical problem but actually it was not a technical problem. “Something wrong in the toilet, it could be a bomb”.
France has been on high alert for terrorist activity and in a state of emergency since Islamic extremist attacks November 13 in Paris killed 130 people. The same Islamic group also claimed responsibility for shooting down a plane in October which was flying through Egypt with Russian tourists.
The flight is the fourth Air France flight to Paris that has been diverted since the attacks on the city last month.
A suspicious object made of cardboard and a kitchen timer sparked a bomb scare on an Air France flight Sunday, forcing it to make an emergency landing in Kenya. ‘One of my grandchildren said: “‘The (evacuation) slide was super”.
“It makes sense to target Air France because it is one of the world’s biggest companies and France is a particular target for terrorism”, he said.
The fake bomb on the Air France flight was discovered in a toilet cabinet behind a mirror, according to the airline’s chief executive, Frederic Gagey.
Gagey said a plane was being sent to bring the passengers back to France.

The arrest is part of an investigation prompted by an Air France lawsuit for “reckless endangerment” while the airline was bringing the flight from Mauritius to the French capital.
