Fox News and Newt Gingrich Agree to Suspend Contributor Contract
After the announcement, Gingrich appeared on FOX News to address to the issue and the possibility of him being a vice-presidential candidate. Gingrich, like much of Trump’s team, is a washed up has-been who found new relevancy in publicly shilling for the former Democratic real estate mogul turned liberal Republican. We’re talking about this more from a television perspective, and it’s probably the right move for Fox News to make – even if keeping Newt on the air amid such speculation would have likely been a nice little ratings shot in the arm for them.

But he’s not alone on that list.
Gingrich is reportedly on the shortlist of candidates to be Trump’s running mate, along with Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
“I have five candidates, plus two, two that are unknown to anybody”, Mr. Trump said from Chicago, where he was raising money for his campaign.
The Fox News host flew the former House speaker to Indianapolis early Wednesday morning to meet with the Republican nominee as he holds late-stage meetings with his VP finalists, the sources said.
“We all love Newt”. “That I can tell you”.
‘I’ll tell you one thing, folks: I’m not saying it’s Newt, but if it’s Newt, nobody’s going to be beating him in those debates.
That grim picture may speak to the visceral fears of voters that crime is “out of control”, as Trump says.
Gingrich also could help smooth Trump’s relationship with Congress, which is off to a rocky start after a tense Capitol Hill meeting last week.
Newton Leroy “Newt” Gingrich, 73, represented Georgia’s 6th congressional District for 20 years and was Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995-’99.
“‘If Trump offers the position and is serious about it, which I think he would be after our conversations, listen – I would feel compelled to serve the country”, he said last Thursday.
