Fox Orders ’24’ Reboot With Brand New Cast, No Jack Bauer
Fox is pushing forward with a soft reboot of its real-time action series 24, which plans to adopt the same structure and style of the earlier show but with a brand new cast. That should divide up the show’s focus some, though neither role has been cast yet. The news announced today by Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs, Fox Television Group.

And according to Fox, the series is getting a whole new plot line.
24 veterans Howard Gordon, Manny Coto and Evan Katz will serve as executive producers. All things considered, it was a pretty great return to form, even with the shortened episode count. It won an Emmy for best drama series when Sutherland won for best actor in a drama series.
Walden said there is a “prominently featured lead (character)”, but perhaps not carrying quite as much of the load story-wise as Sutherland’s Jack Bauer did.
It’ll be called 24: Legacy and will follow the story of a military hero’s return to America and trouble he brings back with him, which leads CTU (the Counter Terrorist Unit) to get involved and save the poor guy, in turn preventing a massive terrorist attack.
The pilot will also retain one hour/one episode format, along with split-screens and complex interweaving storytelling that 24 fans are accustomed to. I hear the twentysomething man, Eric Carter, was conceived as an African American, and the actors approached for the part so far all have been black.
A Twitter user joked: “24” without Jack Bauer sounds pretty cool. Kiefer Sutherland’s Bauer was the flawless comic book hero, stopping the bad guys just seconds before they destroyed the world, but not before they destroyed poor Los Angeles… over and over again…

A ways back, we’d heard that FOX had an eye toward another 24 revival, albeit without Kiefer Sutherland’s famous Jack Bauer at the helm.
