Fox reflects on Bears’ rout of Rams

Armando L. Sanchez / Chicago Tribune Willie Young celebrates after getting an interception during the second half. With 6:53 left in the second quarter the score went to 13-7. Luckily for the Bears, rookie running back Jeremy Langford has really carried the torch quite well.

Nick Foles, acquired from the Eagles for Sam Bradford in the winter, has just one TD pass the last four games. “It is up there as one of our better games as a team”.

So with a home game approaching against his old club, the Denver Broncos, Fox has his attention focused entirely on the future rather than the circumstances that led to his departure from the Mile High City and subsquent hiring in Chicago.

This was a statement game for the Bears.

Suddenly, on the Rams’ next possession after the Bears tied it at 7 on a Zach Miller 87-yard lightning bolt, there was McClellin meeting Gurley in the hole for a 1-yard gain. Considering what’s been going as of late both records are better than expected entering the season. He completed just five of 20 passes and finished with a 0.0 quarterback rating. Arguably the best to play the game. “Yeah, I don’t like it. I don’t like it. With four minutes to go in the game we had eight first downs”. He’s the first in the National Football League since 2006 when J.P. Losman accomplished the feat. With running back Matt Forte possibly out of the lineup and the Bears’ defense depleted by injuries, trades, and performance-based midseason personnel changes, the Rams will have a great opportunity ahead of them.

November 09, 2015 – Chicago Bears Running Back Jeremy Langford (33) [20576] dives in for a touchdown during the NFL football game between the Chicago Bears and the San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California. He looked more like Rob Gronkowski on the play breaking tackles on his way to the endzone. However, much of his success has come under the watch of offensive coordinator Adam Gase. It didn’t work out, but the feeling was if he could turn around a seemingly lost cause in Cutler for the Bears, teams would line up for a chance to hire him. The Bears turned that into a Robbie Gould field goal and a 17-point edge with 8:05 to play.

But on defense, the only Bear besides McClellin who flashed consistently was Tracy Porter again, and, yet, somehow the Bears won in a rout. Carey has to overcome a few of those issues if he wants to stick around.

Martellus Bennett doesn’t seem to be a fan of the Rams.

If the Rams are to compete for a playoff spot in the NFC, they must win every remaining game that they’re expected to win, and that includes the game against the struggling Bears.

Ready for the fake: Jeff Fisher’s history in fake punts led the Bears to keep their starting defense on the field in the fourth quarter, allowing them to prevent St. Louis from converting on a pass from its punter.

But even after the Bears’ 37-13 dismantling of the Rams on Sunday in St. Louis, is there anyone out there who would argue the Rams are not the more talented of the two teams? The Rams are a bad passing team but it was mainly Porter who made them look incompetent and that earned him an A+.

“For whatever reason, we haven’t started as fast”, Fox said.
