Fox’s new show ‘Pitch,’ put a woman on the Major League Baseball pitcher’s mound

She is a Kardashian with a skill set. “The heart is what’s the most important and the most attractive about this”. “They normally take breaks but while shooting, I had to pitch consecutive days and that caused a little wear and tear on my elbow”.

PITCH: Kylie Bunbury in the all-new “Pilot” series premiere episode of PITCH airing Thursday, Sept. 22 (8:59-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. She sticks around and gets her first victory. Confident and strong, yet vulnerable in her impassivity, Ginny’s physical and emotional capabilities are quickly established – and just as quickly challenged. She even tells another player to not slap her butt like the guys usually do with each other; that’s not her style.

Guiding her is her agent/confidante Amelia Slater (Ali Larter), who saw Ginny’s star potential early on and left her previous job as a Hollywood publicist to concentrate on the young phenom. Some of the balls go high, some land in the dirt. Does she overcome the stress and pressure of this whole situation to win the game for her team? “Because she is being pushed and pulled in a lot of different directions, she is still figuring out who she is, so you’re getting to see her strength”. Ginny hurling her screwball through the glass ceiling is as significant, it seems, as Robinson breaking the color barrier over half a century ago. Co-starring with Baker is Mark-Paul Gosselaar (better known as Zac Morris from the ’90s classic, Saved by the Bell) as he plays the role of the team’s captain Mike Lawson, of the team and leaves no stone unturned to insult Ginny.

Pitch boasts a diverse cast of characters, reflecting the reality of modern baseball, as well as… well, reality. They all mesh together really well. Although groomed for this moment by her demanding father, Bill Baker (Michael Beach), the end of Ginny’s improbable journey is the beginning of an nearly impossible one: representing her gender as she embarks on a successful baseball career under the glare of the white-hot media spotlight. The show surrounds the story of a young girl who is an unbelievable pitcher with highly, exceptional screwball pitch. She is the lead actress of the TV series and becomes the first girl to play in the Major League Baseball. In fact, the team Ginny plays for is an actual Major League Baseball team, the San Diego Padres, and the show films inside their stadium, Petco Park. Fans who have read the news about Pitch are excited about the show’s premiere and are searching the Internet for ways to watch Pitch season 1 premiere online and/or catch a Pitch season 1 premiere live stream.

While there have been a handful of baseball-related television shows in the past (and CBS tried to launch a series based on A League of Their Own back in 1993), the sport has mostly been colonized by film.
