Fox Topix: Donald Trump

Drake Jaglowski looks forward to voting in his first presidential election and said that Trump is his man. The 19-year-old Grand Rapids resident made the ride to Saginaw County to show his support for Trump.

The antipathy evidenced by the Fox anchors (yes, Megyn Kelly in particular) toward Trump during the debate was painfully evident and had the GOP’s fingerprints all over it – but let me pose this question: A week later, don’t you think we have bigger fish to fry than the Donald Trump-Megyn Kelly feud? Some rival candidates said he’d finally gone too far – so he countered by suggesting one of them, Fiorina, the race’s only woman, could induce a headache with the sound of her voice.

Trump accused her of political correctness and of not treating him with respect. But you probably won’t get any commentary on that from the “real” political pundits who write for the “serious” political press. “We’ve always been friends and it’s great to be back with you”. It was the Fox News “moderators” of what was supposed to be a candidates’ debate. “Folks, Ive given Donald Trump a lot of latitude because hes not a professional politician.

They came fast and furious at Kelly, via Twitter and subsequent interviews: “bimbo”, “lightweight”, “totally overrated”, “not very sharp”.

And then the backpedaling. (Oh yeah? Listen to the tape.). Who else shone? Mike Huckabee gave a good-humored speech that sent the clear message that, while he still feels strongly about the social issues that characterized his 2008 campaign, this time the economy and national security are tops.

On Monday morning he took it a step further, saying on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he thought Kelly should apologize to him. The Washington Post provided a helpful video compilation. Each time, the majority of women voted for the other party.

Well, plenty of women do – still.

Trump’s outspokenness is his most important quality, according to the women who like him.

Or, to cast a bipartisan light on the issue, consider Trump contemporaries such as David Letterman and Bill Maher, who have aimed similarly disparaging comments at Sarah Palin and her daughters. We may identify with one or two of their hosts, but no matter how outraged they get, the network isn’t going to change its overall policy, and it isn’t going to countenance discussion of the most glaring instances of criminality and corruption at the highest levels of our government.

When he was asked in the first GOP debate about calling women he doesn’t like “fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals”, he responded with, “Only Rosie O’Donnell!” -and the audience didn’t boo or even remain silent, they laughed.

Carly Fiorina wasn’t buying Trump’s excuses.

The billionaire construction mogul will shatter the conventions of presidential campaigning if his unrepentant, antagonistic media tour leads to the Republican nomination. “And yes, it was offensive”.

“I want to run as a Republican“, he added.

Trump may have garnered the most attention, but several Republicans candidates have emphasized priorities that could alienate women in recent weeks, including escalating attacks on Planned Parenthood.

“I used to be those people“.
