Miss Universe airs in approximately 190 countries and territories.

“Miss Universe is a unique, global media property and this partnership with Fox marks a new era for The Miss Universe Organization as a whole”, said company executive Michael Antinoro, as quoted by Variety.

The Fox broadcast network will air the Miss Universe Pageant and has secured rights to Miss US, two shows that had to find a new home on U.S. TV after controversial remarks about immigrants by Republican presidential candidate and former contest owner Donald Trump.

“Miss Universe is a unique, global media property and this partnership with Fox marks a new era for The Miss Universe Organization as a whole”, said Michael Antinoro, senior VP of original content, IMG.

Today’s announcement brings closure to a dramatic few months for both pageants. Trump later sued Univision for $500 million for breach of contract. Trump was a no-show, but his recent incendiary comments clouded the event – especially as Miss Texas Ylianna Guerra, who comes from an immigrant family, won second place.

While changing networks, the Miss Universe pageant is sticking at the Las Vegas Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino that’s hosted many Miss Universe and Miss U.S. pageants over the years. The last time Miss United States of America aired on NBC in 2014, the pageant grabbed a 1.4 rating.

WME/IMG, which operates more than 800 live events across the world, acquired the Miss Universe Organization in September from Trump. That telecast ran on cable net Reelz in July.
