The iPhone contract manufacturer Foxconn Technology Group is giving finishing touches to its plan of manufacturing iPhone in India for sale for Indian as well as the export market.

It is unknown whether Apple will follow through on its request to open up an Apple Store network without the option to sell its refurbished line of iPhones, Indian media reports. Work on the $25 million center, which is expected to house 150 employees, will start later this year.

But the iPhone’s largest assembler is in Taiwan, a company by the name of Foxconn.

The Taiwanese company had previous year committed to setting up factories in Maharashtra and had signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government to set up an electronics manufacturing facility. With low production cost in India and ever increasing wages in China, this partnership will facilitate both Apple and Foxconn to reduce their production costs in India.

Good news! iphones may soon come with a 'Made in India&#039 tag
