France honors American WWII veterans in KC ceremony

“I’m certainly thankful to make it out to this Veterans Day celebration and for all the people that made it possible for them [veterans] to come home safe”, he said. “It’s a time to get together and realize how important this day is, not only to our veterans and their families but to our nation as a whole”. “We are here today for those who returned home and were not given the respect, the honor Donnie was given”.
Veterans Memorial Park in Downtown Wichita is a special place for service men and women, but it’s also been a frequent victim of vandals.
This years ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado included that expansion ribbon cutting, hoping to show how important those who served are to the state of Colorado.
The theme of the parade honored Korean War veterans and the crowd was taken back in time with 40’s music playing in the background. “So be a little patient with a few of the workers you got when they come back home”. I knew many of those whose names are on this monument. Vietnam veteran Roy Weldon says they’re committed to making sure no future veterans experience what they did. It was a cold and misty day in the capital city, but that didn’t stop dedicated veterans from marching three miles this morning. It was organized by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 20. “There are so many people that you meet that have never met a veteran”. Veterans from World War II to the recent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were thanked.

The Tarrant County Veterans Council’s theme this year was Honoring Vietnam Veterans, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the start of the USA ground war. There were multiple ceremonies Wednesday, beginning in Washington Square at the Tomb of the Unknown Revolutionary Soldier, like thousands of others who perished in the war for independence.
