France investigating whether truck attacker acted alone
The witness said the unnamed motorcyclist was allegedly seen riding alongside the truck as it picked up speed, before trying to grab hold of the cab’s door.

Mayor John Tory says he has reached out to the French Consulate in Toronto to express his profound sympathies in the wake of a deadly attack in the coastal city of Nice.

Families had gathered along Nice’s waterfront promenade to mark the national holiday when the truck rammed into crowd. The driver continued forward as he hit scores of people.
Tunisia: Bilal Labaoui, born in 1987, was killed in the attack, according to the Tunisian foreign ministry.
“France is horrified by what has just occurred – a monstrous act of using a truck to intentionally kill dozens of people celebrating 14th of July”. Police found one pistol and various fake weapons in his truck.

The dead in Nice included at least 10 children and adolescents.
Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Guillaume Long said, “we are shocked by this horrendous and horrifying attack in France”.
“We will not be deterred”, Obama said. “They were getting more panicked every time we heard a bang, and we didn’t know what it was at the time, but we know now it was gunshots”.
Following Thursday’s attack in Nice, French President François Hollande has chosen to extend [Telegraph news release] for three months the state of emergency, which had been set to expire on July 26. The French anti-terrorism prosecutor has opened a terrorism investigation.
He reiterated that France is also bolstering its presence in Iraq and Syria, where he said earlier that military advisers would be on the ground to help Iraqis take back the Islamic State stronghold of Mosul.
“These were innocent victims enjoying the celebrations of French National Day, celebrating the core values of “liberty, equality and fraternity”.

The identities of most of those brought into custody were not clear. However he stopped short of using the word attack, while acknowledging that “it has many ingredients of an attack that allow us to think that”.
