Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault in Jerusalem Sunday that the only way to proceed toward peace between Israel and Palestine was through direct negotiations without any preconditions.
Israeli foreign ministry director general Dore Gold has also criticized the French proposal, telling the Jerusalem Post earlier this week the proposal had “many problems”, and that its multi-national approach would not get the two sides “any closer to a negotiated solution and, in fact, makes a negotiated solution more distant”. “Why not for Palestine?” he said.
Ayrault said he is ready to shift the May 30 date several days to enable Kerry to attend.
But at the same time, Ayrault rejected Netanyahu’s claim of French impartiality, insisting that an Israeli-Palestinian peace process was imperative to prevent the spread of deadly Islamist violence.
“We’ve made it clear that the May 30 date originally proposed by the French would not work for the secretary and for his schedule”, State Department spokesman John Kirby said.
French Prime Minister Manuel Valls called the wording of the resolution “unfortunate” and “clumsy”, adding that France’s vote “changed nothing” in its approach towards the Israeli-Palestinian issue.
The United States hasn’t decided yet to join an worldwide peace conference that France intends to hold, and its position is still unclear.
France will host an worldwide meeting at the end of this month to discuss moving the peace process forward. He said the level of animosity between Egypt and Israel that had existed prior to the conclusion of the landmark accord was no different from how the Palestinians and Israelis feel now. Since then, the Palestinians have been struggling for independence and the implementation of the global resolutions related to the their cause.
“We are going to create, with the main actors and neighboring countries, the parameters that will allow Israelis and Palestinians to return to the negotiating table”, Hollande said.

He explained that it is not reasonable to see many global conferences that resolved more sophisticated issues in the world from the Iranian Nuclear case to the crisis Yemen, Libya and Syria, adding that “while they are not paying attention to resolving our cause”.
