Spencer Stone, one of three men hailed as heroes for thwarting a terrorist attack on a French train, was stabbed repeatedly during an assault in Sacramento early Thursday, according to multiple media reports.

Airman Spencer Stone, 23, was stabbed in Sacramento after he got into a fight with a group of men as he was leaving a bar with friends, Ken Bernard, the city’s deputy chief of police told reporters.

NBC News and CBS News reported that the attack took place in Sacramento on Wednesday night. He was expected to pull through.

No suspect description has been released. “We do not have any information as to the events preceding the incident”. “We know it is not related to what occurred in France months ago”.

Bernard says Stone was out with four other people and a fight with another group led to the stabbing near a bar. Bernard said they do not know if Stone was drinking, but Stone’s friends have said they consumed alcohol.

Violence overseas made Stone, National Guardsman Alex Skarlatos and college student Anthony Sadler sudden celebrities in August. Fellow train hero Skarlatos tweeted: “Everybody send prayers out to the Stone family today”.

“He is alive and in stable condition at this time”, the Air Force said in a statement.

Armed with a pistol, an assault rifle and 270 rounds of ammunition, Khazzani is accused of seeking to massacre passengers on the Amsterdam-Paris train.

Mr Skarlatos is scheduled to appear on ABC television’s Dancing With The Stars, which he was rehearsing for when a gunman killed nine people at the Oregon community college he attends last week.
