The final installment in Lionsgate’s huge YA franchise, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, will open in more than 4,000 locations in North America this weekend.

There is no doubt that the franchise finale is poised to break a few records, but fans might be interested to know that the “Mockingjay Part 1” previews pulled in $17 million and the “Catching Fire” previews raked in about $25.5 million, which is considerably higher than this film has pulled in.

The Hunger Games series is a combination four science -fiction films. It is expected that this part will also entertain its viewers.

The second instalment had its charms (mainly in the wardrobe department), but when Hollywood hit upon dividing the third-and-final book into two drawn-out movies, it hit a bump in the road.

The first film “Hunger Games” earned $19.7 million from midnight shows.

He added he would only take it on if Suzanne Collins, the author of the Hunger Games book series, turned her hand to it.

Do watch it at the movies though – it should at least be experienced on a big screen. The main leads of this movie are Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.

Mockingjay Part 2 wraps up the story of Katniss Everdeen and the rebellion of the citizens of Panem against the Capitol.

Despite the lack of any more source material, the studio is reportedly trying hard to continue the franchise and keep raking in all that box office money. But since the moments immediately following the end of Katniss’ “Kill Snow” mission included one final violent showdown between Katniss and the Presidents Snow and Coin, it wasn’t until much later that we got to see Katniss grieve – with a cat. It is a game of cat and mouse as Snow has set up pods all throughout the Capital as he is treating this war just like the Hunger Games. That puts the film on track for a $115-120 million opening weekend in the US. But Katniss has other ideas and comes into her own as a leader.
