Milwaukee Brewers pitching had difficulty keeping Philadelphia in control, as the Phillies defeated the Brewers 5-2 Friday. The fruit of that focus was on full display in the third inning Sunday.Pirates: LHP Francisco Liriano (strained right hamstring) threw in the bullpen before the game and declared himself ready to start Tuesday night at San Diego but the Pirates medical staff wants to see how he feels Sunday before committing to the start.

Peralta pitched seven scoreless innings in his only start against Philadelphia last season, a 3-1 victory August 14 in Milwaukee, after going 1-2 with an 8.82 ERA in his previous three matchups. Eickhoff is 3-2 with a 1.34 ERA in his seven starts since September 7.

Franco hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the fourth inning off Chase Anderson (1-2). He came back to reality in his last outing, yielding five runs and 11 hits in five innings as he gave up his first two home runs of the year.
