Flake, a freshman who had praised President Barack Obama for seeking a diplomatic solution, had been publicly undecided, making him a top target of the White House’s concerted lobbying campaign.

Back in April, shortly after the framework of the Iran nuclear deal was established, President Obama proclaimed in the Rose Garden, “If Iran violates the deal, sanctions can be snapped back into place”. One has to be careful in utilizing a historical period to compare contemporary times, far too often politicians over use history to fit their present day narratives.

On July 29, two days before he declared his support for the deal, Larson introduced a resolution that would authorize a U.S. military strike against Iran “if Iran commits a serious violation of its commitments or obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action” – the official term for the agreement.

On Thursday, during the Republican presidential debate, Sen.

The president racks up his highest marks on race relations, education and climate change – even though he doesn’t rack up a majority approval rating on any of them, the poll finds. “Really. Status quo minus is what it is”.

The Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago joins at least 17 other Jewish community groups that oppose the deal, along with many who are skeptical but not yet opposed and a couple that are just unsure.

Left out of the deal, the release of four American hostages. First he did it with Republicans, now he is adding Democrats to the mix. We will have lost something more precious: “America’s credibility as a leader of diplomacy; America’s credibility as the anchor of the global system”.

Kerry: “We turn around and nix the deal and then tell them you’re going to have to obey our rules on the sanctions anyway?”

“And you see senators, like Charles Schumer – of course he is the Jewish senator – who spoke before the AIPAC convention few years ago, saying in Hebrew that he was a guardian of Israel in the Senate…” That would be the very existence of the Iran nuclear deal. But he said the agreement “is the only viable option to achieve that goal”.

The agreement also requires Iran to redesign a heavy-water reactor that could be used for weapons-grade plutonium, closing another pathway to a bomb, the White House says. Although the United States is still regarded by Iran as the “Great Satan”, the U.S. has less to fear from an Iranian nuclear arsenal than does Israel. As Prime Minister Netanyahu has repeatedly said, Israel is not Czechoslovakia.

“We didn’t want it to be included and it’s primarily because we never wanted to be in a situation where the freedom of these Americans was contingent on the success of the agreement, Michigan Congressman Dan Kildee said”.
